Welcome to Serpentine! Here's a little About Us:

          Serpentine jewelry designer Jesseca Mccloskey

Serpentine is curated and designed by Jesseca McCloskey in Portland, Oregon.

Jesseca grew up going to flea markets on the East Coast, developing a love for vintage and antiques at an early age. She has been drawn to jewelry and the art of adornment her whole life (maybe being a Taurus has something to do with that)! She is a firm believer in jewelry as a type of armor- a layer you put on that helps you feel powerful as you go about your day.

Jesseca holds a BFA in the visual arts and has been designing jewelry for nearly twenty years. She seeks out heirloom quality vintage pieces with a story to tell and takes great joy in connecting these objects of the past with you. She is endlessly inspired by Victorian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs and aims to strike the perfect balance between dark and moody/ timeless and classic. You’ll notice some common favorite themes around here include the celestial, astrological, witchy, sentimental and symbolic.

Serpentine lives primarily online but you can also find a selection of our vintage jewelry in our pop up space at Flutter on Mississippi Ave (we’re right up front by the window) and we do occasional markets around Portland (follow along on instagram @shopserpentinepdx for announcements on those). 2023 marks the year that we released a collection of our very own original talismanic jewelry designs which were hand carved in wax by Jesseca then cast locally in metal. It is (of course!) inspired by antique jewelry as well as symbols of luck, protection and transformation. This new direction has been a long time coming and we’re so thrilled to finally be able to share it with you!

When Jesseca is not making or dreaming about jewelry, she can usually be found haunting thrift stores, escaping to the coast (her happy place) or snuggling her fluffy cat, Morpheus aka Mr. Biscuits.
