Antique Art Deco Sterling Silver Black Onyx Statement Ring

A gorgeous antique Art Deco sterling silver statement ring set with a large rectangular black onyx cabochon. It is set with a twisted rope-like border and has decorative shoulders with a single engraved flower. The back of the setting is open with more decorative details around the opening. The inside of the band is marked Theda as well as sterling. The surface of the onyx has been beautifully worn down over time with lots of scuffing indicating it has been well loved. A true statement piece. I believe it was likely made sometime in the 1920's.

Black onyx is a protection stone and is believed to promote strength during difficult times.

The face of the ring measures 29mm tall and 23mm across.

Condition: Patina consistent with age. The onyx has lots of surface scuffs and scratches (it feels very smooth- they are all surface level). The stone has the slightest movement in the setting though it it very secure.
