I thought I'd share a little behind the scenes look at the inspiration behind the latest wax cast collection (to be released May 7th)! I am deeply inspired by antique jewelry- particularly Art Deco and Victorian designs and often work from reference photos when I'm carving and sculpting the wax models. I hope you're as excited as I am about the new releases!
The antique Victorian charm that inspired the Spell Charm Necklace. This piece is deeply symbolic- the clover shape and horseshoe are for luck, the heart is for love, the mushroom is for health. In the original the anchor is for faith... in my version I replaced the anchor with an evil eye for protection.

The antique ouroboros ring that inspired my own version. Snakes symbolize rebirth, transformation and healing. The ouroboros (snake eating its own tail) is a symbol of infinity: a cyclical journey.
The Art Deco ring that inspired the Forget Me Not statement ring. I fell in love with the shape of it and upped the scale and opted to omit the bird and go with a sentimental floral motif. Forget me not flowers were a classic motif in Victorian jewelry worn in remembrance of someone special or as a symbol of true love and devotion.

The Forget Me Not Ring went through a couple iterations- as you can see here I was considering setting it with stones which I decided against in the end. Both of these will be available in brass or sterling silver.
A vintage charm holder necklace that I sold through my shop was the inspiration to make my own version which I am calling the Night & Day Charm Holder because it's reversible! Mine is a larger size (because I am most drawn to statement jewelry) and has a celestial theme... a sunburst on one side or a crescent moon and stars on the other. It will be given a gold-filled wire hook that you can open to slide your favorite charms on and off.
This antique mystery item that I came across at a flea market inspired my In Bloom Earrings... I didn't purchase it because I wasn't quite sure what it was at the time. After doing some research I think it's original purpose was as a rose water sprinkler because the tips of the flowers were hollow with little perforations. A friend told me she thought it was likely used in religious ceremonies. I loved the flowers in particular and created a large statement earring that will get a post back and be available in brass or sterling silver.

This antique Victorian era hair pin that was once available in my shop was the inspiration behind the Snake Hair Pin as it's curves reminded me of a snake. It will be available in brass.

The face of this Art Deco snake bracelet was a reference point when I was creating the Ouroboros Hoop Earrings.
